Orienteering
Orienteering is a fun, challenging sport where you use a map (and sometimes a compass) to complete a course in an exciting competitive environment. Orienteers may walk or run – fitness is not a necessity, although it does help if a student wants to be competitive.

Orienteering Central Zone Series
Wednesday afternoons and weekends at various locations around Auckland
Don’t worry if it’s your first time. This series is designed to make orienteering an enjoyable experience!!
For the first two weeks of the series students who are new to orienteering are able to go around the course in pairs. There will also be a couple of roaming orienteering lifeguards out on the course to offer support/tips if you get a bit lost or need help.

Saturday 8- Sunday 9 March: Katoa Po Taupo Overnight Orienteering Relay
Friday 18 - Monday 21 April: NZ Champs, Christchurch
Friday 25 - Sunday 27 April: North Island Secondary Schools Champs, Waiuku
Tuesday 6 May: AKSS Relay Champs
Thursday 22 May: AKSS Individual Champs
Saturday 31 May - Monday 2 June: Kings Birthday Schools' Challenge
Sunday 8 June: AKSS Rogaine Champs
Wednesday 11 June; Eden Park Sprint
Sunday 13 July: New Zealand Secondary Schools Champs Woodhill/Riverhead
Fees
The season fee for orienteering is approx. $75 with regional and nationals tournaments charged separately. These can range from $10-$100 per event depending on location and duration.
Uniform
Students will need to purchase an EGGS singlet or t-shirt from the School Uniform Shop. Students will also need to supply their own black or blue shorts and sports shoes.
