Top athletes and personnel celebrated at 2024 Sports Awards

Last week we came together at the annual EGGS Sports Awards to celebrate the outstanding talent and dedication that makes Epsom Girls Grammar School Sport so unique.

Students, coaches, managers and volunteers were acknowledged for their commitment, leadership, service, and excellence in sport throughout 2024.

In particular, a huge congratulations goes to our nine Special Award Recipients, pictured on the left.

Congratulations to Emily Rope and Olivia Bates who recently represented New Zealand at the 2024 Tri Series Swimming Meet. The girls swam a demanding race schedule over the three day event, with their team finishing 3rd overall.  As the youngest swimmer on the team, Emily Rope cemented her reputation as an impressive junior athlete. Olivia also impressed, swimming the greatest distance (excluding relays) with a total of 3900metres over just two days of racing. Olivia was also one of just five swimmers to get skill points in all of her races.

Emacyn Ieremia and Delilah Tuihalangiegie were named in the Pacific Island U18 Rugby Team that took on the NZ Barbarians U18 Girls in October. Delilah was also honored with the role of captaining the team and led a stoic performance against tough opposition.

In September this year, cycling superstar Elena Worrall  competed as part of the Cycling New Zealand National Team at the 2024 UCI Road Cycling World Championships in Switzerland. This race followed an insanely impressive year with multiple Oceania Track Titles as well as podiums across a variety of road events and a big ride at her first UCI race Gravel and Tar Femme.
