Mountain biking can generally be broken down into the following categories: cross country, all-mountain (also referred to as "Enduro") and downhill.

Key Season Dates & Information
Epsom Girls Grammar students have the opportunity to enter into a number of Mountain Biking events throughout the year. The majority of these take place in Terms 1, 2, and 3.
Due to the logistical difficulty of transporting bikes, it is important that students participating are accompanied by a parent of caregiver.

2026 EVENTS
Auckland Schools Mountain Biking (AMBC) Cross Country (XC) Series:
This MTB XC series consists of five rounds at different venues across Auckland's regional parks and forests.
With dates locked in and most venues confirmed there are still a few details left to confirm.
The 2026 provisional timetable is as follows,
Round 1 - Sunday 3 May - Riverhead (To Be Confirmed)
Round 2 - Sunday 24 May - Waitawa
Round 3 - Sunday 14 June - Slater Road (South Head)
Round 4 - Sunday 9 August - Totara Park
Round 5 - Sunday 6 September - Sanders Reserve
Auckland Schools Shreddah Funduro Series
Pohutukawa Coast Bike Club, Jafakids MTB Academy and FourForty Mountain Bike Park (under the Auckland Mountain Biking Collab) are coming together again to deliver an epic series for Auckland youth aged 11 to 19 — providing a fun, supportive and confidence-building racing environment across three unique venues.
Riders can choose to race one, two or all three rounds, with overall event placings, a full series leaderboard and titles for King & Queen of the Mountain.

Race 2 - Maraetai (Hosted by PCBC) - Sunday 22nd February, 2026

Fees
Fees are charged on a per-event basis and vary depending on location and duration of event.
Entry into local Auckland events usually costs between $80.00-$100.00
Uniform & Equipment Required
Students will compete wearing an Epsom sports top that can be purchased from the Sports Office and/or uniform shop.
Students will also be required to provide their own bike, helmet and protective gear.
