Basketball is one of the fastest-growing sports at Epsom Girls Grammar School, offering opportunities for players of all year levels and abilities. With state-of-the-art facilities, including the Joyce Fisher Sports Centre and a fully equipped school fitness centre for strength and conditioning, our players train and compete in an outstanding environment.
Our Premier Basketball team competes in the Auckland Premier Division, the top level of secondary school girls’ basketball. Since earning promotion to the grade in 2020, EGGS has proudly maintained its place among the best schools in Auckland, giving our athletes the chance to compete at an elite level.
At the junior level, EGGS has four teams competing in the College Sport Auckland competition; the largest number of junior teams of any school. This depth of participation provides a strong foundation for the future of basketball at Epsom, ensuring a clear development pathway from junior to senior level.

Key Information and Dates
Skill Sessions
Skill Sessions are open to all basketball students to hone their skills outside of team trainings. They are held every week by one of our dedicated coaches and will be starting from Week 2 of Term 1:
Wednesdays, 7-8am
Friday, 7-8am
Premier Team Trials:
Monday, February 2nd, 3:30-5pm
Wednesday, February 4th, 3:30-5pm
Rest of Teams Trials:
Tuesday, March 3rd, 3:30-5pm
Tuesday, March 11th, 3:30-5pm
Trainings:
Held onsite in the Joyce Fisher Sports Centre
Training times will be communicated on a individual team basis.
Games:
EGGS basketball teams participate in the Central Zone Competition, run by College Sport Auckland.
Juniors: Wednesday, 4pm - 6pm
Seniors: Thursday 4pm - 6pn
Home games are played at EGGS and away games are hosted by various Schools in the Central Auckland Zone.

Fees
Season fees vary depending on the team a student has been selected for but range from $250 - $400.
Entry into tournaments outside the Auckland season will be charged separately.
Uniform & Equipment Required
Premier and Junior A players will be given an EGGS Basketball Uniform. All other teams will use the school PE uniform.
All players will need to provide their own mouthguard and appropriate sports shoes.
