Netball
Netball plays a huge part in the life of many EGGS students, with competitive and social teams entered across all year levels. Anyone who is willing to commit to a season and pay the fees is welcome to join a team.
All School teams compete in the Auckland Secondary Schools Competition, with our two Premier Teams (1 and 2) playing in the Premier 1 and 2 grades at Auckland.
We enter approximately 25 netball teams in the Auckland Netball competition each year!
Trials start in Term 1, with the competition running across Term 2 and 3. We contract highly skilled, experienced coaches for all our top year group teams (Premier, Y9A, and Y10A), and all other teams are coached by either our senior players or parents who volunteer their time.
Our network of volunteer coaches and umpires are critical to the success of our Netball Programme here at EGGS and we support their development through courses run by Auckland Netball Centre.

Trial Process for Term 1 2025
Students wishing to be placed in Year 9, Year 10, Senior or Premier teams will need to attend trials. If you miss a trial day, you may not be given the opportunity to re-trial. We enlist external selectors wherever possible to ensure a fair selection process.
**No player will be placed in a team based on the previous year’s performance**
YEAR 9 TRIALS
Day 1: Tuesday 11th February, after school
Day 2: Thursday 13th February, after school
Day 3: Monday 17th February, after school
YEAR 10 TRIALS
Day 1: Monday 10th February, after school
Day 2: Friday 14th February, after school
SENIOR TRIALS
Day 1: Monday 3rd February, after school
Day 2: Friday 7th February, after school
PREMIER TRIALS
Trials open to all 2024 Premier players and those invited to trial following their year-group trials
Day 1: Thursday 20th February, 6:30am
Day 2: Friday 21st February, after school

Auckland Netball Season: Term 2 and Term 3
Games are played on Saturday's between 8am - 12.30pm at Auckland Netball Centre and Epsom Girls Grammar School
Additional games and tournaments may occasionally be played during the week.
Training: The top teams generally have two trainings a week, all other teams have just one training.
Training for all teams are onsite at Epsom Girls Grammar School

Fees
Season fees are approximately $350-$400 for the Premier 1, Premier 2, year 9A and year 10A Teams
Season fees are approximately $150-$200 for all other teams
Tournaments will be charged in addition to season fees with costs depending on location and duration.
Uniform & Equipment Required
Epsom Premier Teams wear the Epsom Netball Dress which is provided by the School for use during the season. All other teams wear the Epsom netball singlets with blue skirts which can be purchased at the School Uniform Shop.
Gear bags with balls, bibs, first aid, and coaching resources will also be provided to each team by the School.
Students will need to provide their own netball shoes.
